Scouting a future hall of famer

Omar Vizquel (Chicago White Sox)

I haven’t seen any other Short Stop with that display of awareness and improvisation since Ozzie Smith’s time. He makes every routine play, has a sniper’s accuracy with his arm and an uncanny knack of timing on every throws to beat every runner by one step. Here are my numbers based on 100 as top score for this player.

Position: SS
Instincts: 91
First step: 82
Speed: 80
Hands: 94
Release: 98
Strength: 65
Accuracy: 93

Fielding: execution of the routine plays. Excellent hands control and body coordination on the field. Good positioning for every play with outstanding balance, vision and footwork.

Arm: average arm strength with quick release. Accuracy on throwing to the bases with low error percentage.

Speed: Above range speed for base running, base stealing and fielding ability. Intelligent runner with instinct and knowledge of the field and location of the opponent players.

Hitting: Switch hitter with high on-base percentage. Strike zone knowledge. Good bunt technique and contact to advance players on base.

Power: Occasional hitting power with great ability to hit for extra bases.

The Scout who signed Omar Vizquel he was probably pretty much convince about his fielding abilities but I don’t think he never realized he was going to win 11 Gold Gloves and break some other defensive records.

Could he be a 12 Gold Glove winner?
